<p><strong>Myth: EC causes birth defects<br />
</strong>EC does not increase the risk for birth defects. EC does not harm an established pregnancy. It will not harm your developing baby even if you don’t realize you are pregnant and have taken EC. This may be because you might have taken EC long before the organs would start to develop, making it impossible for EC to lead to birth defects.</p>
